January Meeting Report |
|
A new culture of leaders is on the rise, and like many AIPBW members, they understand that a change in leadership is necessary. January's guest speaker, Anne-Lise Øien Vestgård, argued that this new wave of leaders should incorporate a balance of feminine wisdom and masculine action to successfully bring businesses forward. “Integration of the two will allow you to be a pioneer leader in this changing time.”
Anne-Lise’s workshop aimed at giving members an insight into the power of using and working with their body wisdom. She stressed the importance of being present, leading with authenticity, and daring to believe in a new vision and way of being. “You are responsible for how your energy is spent” she pointed out, and encouraged members to be the change they want to see.
As founder and coach of Joy Power, Anne-Lise inspires leaders in numerous industries to create innovative and holistic business environments that make a win-win for all; people, planet and shareholders. Her speciality is integrating visions and values in corporate cultures, with a focus on individual integration of trust, joy and authenticity.

Jessica Hildrum
Jessica Hildrum’s flair for life is not just inspirational it is contagious! This candid California native began her Norwegian adventure 25 years ago when, at age 15, her mother and stepfather moved the family to Norway.
Facing the challenge of not fitting in and trying to find a balance between maintaining her identity and adjusting to a new environment is ultimately what has made her successful.
“When you don’t feel like you quite belong it allows you to behave differently.
It gives you a great sense of freedom!” By embracing her differences and not being afraid to make mistakes, this single mother has developed a talent for creating opportunities in unlikely places.
In 2005, she became Managing Director/CEO of ProgramUtvikling AS, a position she landed via a temp job. Her passion and capability as a leader is evident in the company’s success. Growing the company from a small entrepreneur company consisting of 3 employees to 10 and revenue of MNOK 5 to MNOK 36 is a testament to her tenacity and vision. Today the company is firmly established as the market leader within both Agile and advanced technical training.
After resigning from ProgramUtvikling AS in 2009, she moved on to a new challenge as Sales and Marketing Manager for Objectware AS, a position she currently holds. A self-proclaimed geek at heart, this extrovert has always had a deep love for the IT development community.
As the new Chair of AIPBW, Jessica is enthusiastically making plans to modernize the network, grow it and push to make the organization and our members more visible to the business community. The opportunity to come into a network of talented women is an opportunity she whole-heartedly relishes.
To get to know Jessica’s more colourful and personal side, visit her blog here.
Jessica Hildrum joins the AIPBW board as the new Chair for 2010.

Editor´s Note |
|
Two years ago, Jennifer Varino handed over the Internal Communications position to me and this year it is my turn. What I have loved about this process is the opportunity I’ve had to tell our members’ stories. Thank you to all of you who have honoured me with your time and allowed me to share the more personal part of your lives. The wealth of stories, achievements and talent at AIPBW is truly inspiring.
I'm excited and encouraged about our new Internal Communications person, Meera Bhatia. As an established journalist, Meera will no doubt be a strong voice for AIPBW. With this, I now pass on the pen!
Dear members, 2010 has begun with a mind boggling human tragedy in Haiti, which has allowed us once again to be witness to the great global human spirit that does exist at times of need and catastrophe. I hope this reminds us all of how important networks and organizations are and what difference they can make at times like this.
I am looking forward to sharing a great year with you and meeting many new people via the AIPBW network. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you all to get in touch with me, if you are interested in getting profiled in our monthly newsletter. This is a great way to allow other members, new and old, to learn more about you. Let's have a great year! - Meera
2010 is definitely a year of change and the AIPBW board promises many exciting changes! I wish everyone a wonderful 2010.
